There are multiple references to anger in the Bible, but like any other sin, God gives us an answer in His Word. We can be assured that if we will take heed to do what the Bible tells us we can overcome it.

Here are just a few of the scriptures concerning anger.

Ephesians 4:26 "Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath."

Ephesians 4:31 "Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice."

Colossians 3:8 "But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth."

Proverbs 27:4 "Wrath is cruel, and anger is outrageous;"

Proverbs 15:18 "A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife."

Proverbs 16:32 "He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city."

Ecclesiastes 7:9 "Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools."

Galatians 5:19 "Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,

20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

As we can see from the scriptures in Galatians 5:19-23, anger (wrath), is a work of the flesh, but the Lord gives us the answer in Galatians 5:24. WE ARE TO CRUCIFY OUR FLESH,.

So today and every day, we can overcome anger by repenting according to I John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Then we do according to Galatians 5:16 "This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh."
