Each of us has faced the death of either a loved one or a friend. But we have Promise's from the Word of God concerning not only those that have gone on but also a Promise for those of us that are grieving the loss. When that loved one or friend dies and they were Christians, there are Scriptures that can encourage our hearts that we will see them again in Heaven.
II Corinthians 5:8 “We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.”
Hebrews 12:1 “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us”
With these promises we can rejoice even through our tears and pain, that the one's we have loved so much here on earth are in the presence of their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Just think, they are in that great cloud of witnesses, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, Elijah the Prophet, Elisha! We could go on and on with those that the Word shows are in that great cloud!
But we, the ones left after they are gone, have Precious promises from the Lord to comfort our hearts.
John 14:16 “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever”
Isaiah 53:4-5 4. Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted. 5. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
Father, I come to you in Jesus name. I lift up those who may have had a loved one or friend to die. I ask that you comfort and heal their grieving hearts. Pour out Your grace and mercy upon them each day.
Blessings to you, Judy at Seeking Prayer
